    🕵‍♂️ Jim Harmer's "Shooting Field Test" Was An Excellent Example of Watching Young "Expert" Hunting Guides Fail Miserably At Shooting! Experience Matters Most! And, Just For The Record, You Can Never Go Wrong With Choosing a 30-06 For Hunting North American Game Animals - Provided That You Can Shoot The Gun Accurately and Choose The Right Bullet For The Job At Hand! Case Closed! 👨‍⚖️

      🕵‍♂️ The 30-06 Isn't Going Away Any Time Soon! It is a "Very Sensible Choice" For Most Western Big Game Hunters (As is the 30 Caliber in General)! It's Still The King of Western Big Game Hunting and The 300 WM is For Western Magnum Cartridges (Despite People Saying It's Case Neck is "Too Short" For Accurate Shooting 😂)! 🫅

    🤠 The Problem With Most of These U-Tube Channels Is People With a Lack of Hunting Experience Giving Hunting Advice! Pieter's Favorite Cartridge is The 6.5 prc! But, Has Pieter Ever Seen Shot or Shot An Elk, Moose, Wild Bison, or Grizzly Bear With It (Or, How About Dozens of Them - Especially At A Variey of Ranges)? NOPE! Just Because The Ballistics Look Good On Paper Doesn't Mean a Darn Thing! Yet, Jim Harmer's Latest Buffalo Hunt Is Yet Another Example of WHY People's "THEORIES" Are Often Wrong and They End Up Misleading Others - Without Decades of Hands On Personal Experiences! BULLET WEIGHT, CONSTRUCTION, DIAMETER, VELOCITY, AND B.C. ALL PLAY A PART! But, You'll Never Know How Well Things Work Unless You Actually Shoot Those Animals, As To What Works Well and What Doesn't (It's Just ALL "Conjecture")! 😂

    🤠 The Reason I Like The 270 Winchester Better Than The 30-06 All Comes Down To Less Recoil - Which Gives Me Better Shot Placement (At a Distance of About 350 Yards, It Starts To Matter - But, Maybe You Aren't Shooting Farther Than That and Then It Won't?)! Also, I Think That The 30-06 is a Bit Overkill For Deer and Antelope! But, With The Right Bullet and Proper Shot Placement, My 270 Can Kill Anything That The 30-06 Can in North America Too (Though The Heavy 30 Caliber Bullets Are Better Killers For Bigger Animals - Bullet Weight and Frontal Area Do Matter)! But, Were Really Splitting Hairs Here, Because It's The Same Rifle Case We Are Talking About (It's Just That The 270 Has Higher B.C. Bullets in Overlapping Bullet Weights, For Those Longer Shots, If Your Taking Them?)! My Bet is That By The Time Your My Age, Your Primary Hunting Rifle Will Be One Of These Two Cartridges and I Wouldn't Fault You If You Chose Either The 30-06 or 280 AI As Your Primary Hunting Rifle! 😃 Happy Hunting! 🦌

      @marcmoore4115 19 часов назад

      Either they chose completely the wrong bullet... or that's simply just terrible shooting, which being 'young guys', my guess is the latter. The cartridge itself is more than adequate for deer. If you think that a deer didn't die just because of the name attached to the case the bullet is fired out of, or for that matter the diameter of the bullet, then you have plenty of learning to do on terminal ballistics. The .260 Rem, 6.5x55, 6.5x47 and many other mid-sized 6.5mm cartridges, now including the Creedmoor have been more than juat successful in Africa on all species up to and including Eland - a good friend of mine actually took a large Eland bull of over 1600lbs with his Creedmoor, firing 143 ELD-X factory ammo just over 230m. One shot, it ran less than 30m before it died. Stop ragging the cartridge when it's the shooter that is the problem.

      ?? 3000fps with a 180gr in a .308 is quite frankly rediculous. I've got a 26" .308 and I shoot 178 ELD-X. Within safe pressures, LeverEvolution should get around 2850fps. Push it above the safe limit and it could hit 2900fps... but 3000fps? You're looking well above 75000 psi no matter what you do and that's simply rediculous. Now - 165gr? Maybe 3000. 150gr, definitely possible.

    It's important to note that all Hornady loads for the 7 PRC are currently underperforming because of the change in powder. The first few batches were easily capable of 3000fps, but then for whatever reason they changed the powder and lost about 150-200fps of muzzle velocity. Meanwhile, Federal 175gr eldx's are still hitting 3000 fps with ease.

    The 30 06 is one of our great cartridges. Powerful enough for all game. It's been used on elephants (Eleanor o'conner) and cape Buffalo. Taken all north American game animals, hell even the 30-30 was used on big bears before the 30 06. As far as it being better than a 270 winchester that argument is older than both of us. Glad you young you tubers no better than all the great writers that came before you tube. Better bullets are the only advantage,though old corelots worked fine. Your comments on cartridges we grew up with and have 50 years experience with is not what modern gun people are curious about. Cover the new wiz bang cartridges that are unknowns and watch them slowly disappear as they do nothing the old cartridges haven't already accomplished . Good luck,being a rifle nut is addictive!

As a hunter, reloader, and career shooter(I retired from the Marine Corps and other Government service lol) I have learned that there is no other need for anything more than an 06. Where I live it is still a renowned cartridge loved by many and still feared by many more lol. The range of bullets and weights that you can use and that are READILY AVAILABLE is almost unmatched by any other cartridge especially in longevity and usefulness. @@ReloadingWeatherby Dude that's ridiculous for you to say that and to delete the comment. The key to what you said is sea-level. Most people hunting with 30-06 aren't at sea-level. 🤔 And now the twist rate is 1 in 10 just so you know in the new rifles. You are taking him out of context and you know that. Either show exactly what he said or don't do videos just for likes and comments. Because that is what you did ! His knowledge and shooting skills are far greater than you and all of us here. In my opinion you're not qualified to say anything about what he says. A opinion only matters if truth and real experience is involved not emotion and favoritism towards something. 💯
